Leaving soon!
This month we have been honored to partner with the St. Eustace Episcopal Church, Lake Placid, New York Medical Mission Group and the Albany District Chapter of the Links, Inc. to send MoonCatcher Kits to Haiti. (See my January blog entry for more information on this wonderful project.) Many thanks to the Newtonville United Methodist Church for providing the space where we trained members of the team to make MoonCatcher Kits so that they can train Haitian women in the refugee center to make the kits.
In Malawi we recently partnered with Yvonne Kamanga (former Ms. Malawi) to deliver 150 Mooncatcher Kits to the students in these photos. Yvonne has committed herself to this work and will continue with efforts to address period poverty in Malawi. Thanks Yvonne.
Coming soon! We are excited to be able to host an actual party. Please join us for cake and punch. Click here for more information.
The wonderful Tara Kitchen is once again co-sponsoring this event. Between March 1 and 31, you can drop off menstrual supplies at any of three locations and receive a $10 gift certificate toward a delicious meal of global comfort food. Many thanks to the fabulous Aneesa Waheed for joining us in this work.
Not local? You can use Amazon to purchase menstrual supplies to be shipped directly to us.
Or if you are local - drop off your donations on March 29 at our Birthday Bash - and join us for cake and punch.
Consider holding your own party and ask your friends and family to bring menstrual supplies for your local food pantries and shelters. Period poverty is a real issue in every community. We can address it directly by raising awareness of the plight of so many individuals who miss out on school, work and community life because they cannot afford menstrual products.
This is a short entry as I am busy getting ready to travel to Uganda and Kenya — leaving on March 5. While there, I will post often to report on how our cooperatives are doing, and how are work is progressing. I am excited to finally be able to travel. This will be our first visit since 2020 and I am looking forward to sharing my experiences with you beginning next week.
Stay healthy everyone!
